Report: The 33rd "Tedemiru" Hand-Touch Exhibition

February–March 2026

The Tactile Art and Therapy Project participated in the 33rd "Tedemiru" Hand-Touch Exhibition, held at the Annex of the Kumamoto Prefectural Museum of Art in February 2026. The works subsequently travelled to "Fureai Space Josuikan" in Amakusa, where they were viewed by many visitors.

Kumamoto Prefectural Museum of Art, Annex

Period: From February 2, 2026

At the opening ceremony, students and teaching staff from the Kumamoto Prefectural School for the Blind visited, touched the tactile-form units directly, and experienced hands-on modeling activities. The exhibition was well received by the President of the Kumamoto Cultural Federation and other distinguished guests.

Fureai Space Josuikan, Amakusa

Travelling Exhibition: Mid-February through March 2026

During the Amakusa travelling exhibition, the team also held a workshop to coincide with a visit by local junior-high-school students. Across the nine-day exhibition period, many visitors paused at the tactile-form corner and enjoyed touching the works directly.

Exhibit Contents

Owing to budget constraints, the team participated with a reduced exhibit. With the cooperation of Prof. Ken Sakamoto of Shokei University Junior College, the exhibit was organized in the following format:

At the venue, visitors picked up the works and experienced the possibilities of modeling through touch. Reports from the site noted that "many visitors paused at the tactile-form corner to touch the works."
